  2. HP ScanJet scanners and Microsoft « Windows 95 drivers - how to install
  3.  
  4. The following instructions are for pre-installed, non-Windows 95 scanning 
  5. software,  HP DeskScan II, version 2.2.
  6.  
  7. HP C2502 CARD (ISA WITHOUT SWITCHES)
  8. 1.  Copy HPSJCLAS.DLL to the Win 95 System directory and SCANJET.INF to the
  9.     Win 95 INF directory.
  10.     a.  Open MS-DOS prompt by clicking on Start menu - Programs and selecting
  11.         MS-DOS Prompt.
  12.     b.  Insert the driver diskette in the floppy drive.
  13.     c.  At the MS-DOS prompt copy  HPSJCLAS.DLL file from the diskette to the
  14.         Win95 system directory. The following assumes that your diskette
  15.         drive is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  16.             copy a:\hpsjclas.dll c:\windows\system
  17.     d.    At the MS-DOS prompt copy  SCANJET.INF file from the diskette to the
  18.         Win95 INF directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive
  19.         is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  20.             copy a:\scanjet.inf c:\windows\inf
  21.     e.    At the MS-DOS prompt type exit to return to windows.
  22.  
  23. 2.  Use "Add New Hardware" in the Control Panel to add a SCSI controller.
  24.     a.    Select "No" when Windows 95 asks if you want it to search for new
  25.     hardware.
  26.     b.    Select "SCSI controllers" as the hardware type. Push "Next".
  27.     c.    Push the "Have Disk..." button when asked to identify the manufacturer
  28.     and model for your new hardware. Click "OK" to copy manufacturer files
  29.         from a:\.
  30.     d.    Select "Symbios Logic 53C400A (HP Version) SCSI Adapter" as the model
  31.         for your new hardware. Click "Next".
  32.     e.    Windows 95 will display which resources it plans to use for your new
  33.         hardware. Click "Next" then "Finish". 
  34.  
  35. 3.  Turn off the computer.  If the card is not already physically in the
  36.     computer, insert it now.  Connect the scanner to the card's connector.
  37.     Make sure the scanner is terminated. Make sure the scanner is turned ON
  38.     prior to step 4. 
  39.  
  40. 4.  Turn on the computer.  You will be asked for the disk with the drivers
  41.     on it.  Specify the diskette drive location (usually a:\) . 
  42.  
  43.     NOTE: 
  44.  
  45.     If you are not asked for the scanner drivers at bootup (after you log in),
  46.     and your scanner was turned on before and during boot, go to the System 
  47.     control panel (Press Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double
  48.     click on System.  Click on the device manager tab.). If there is a yellow
  49.     exclamation mark next to the "Symbios Logic 53C400A (HP Version) SCSI
  50.     Adapter" you need to adjust the resources for your card (See Windows 95
  51.     documentation for more information).  Click on "Symbios Logic 53C400A
  52.     (HP Version) SCSI Adapter", and the Properties button, select the
  53.     "Resources" tab to examine possible device conflicts. If the "conflict
  54.     device list" area shows "No conflicts" try checking the "Use automatic
  55.     settings" checkbox.  If there is a conflict, adjust the resources (See
  56.     Windows 95 documentation). When you are done press "OK". If values
  57.     selected are correct, your scanner should be detected and you will be 
  58.     prompted for the driver diskette.
  59.  
  60. 5.  Your system will reboot automatically.
  61.  
  62. 6.  Your drivers are now installed. Use "Scanner Test" to test the installation.
  63.     
  64.     NOTE:
  65.     SCSI address test is not supported with Windows 95.
  66.  
  67. THIRD-PARTY SCSI CARD
  68. 1.  Copy HPSJCLAS.DLL to the Win 95 System directory and SCANJET.INF to the
  69.     Win 95 INF directory
  70.     a.  Open MS-DOS prompt by clicking on Start menu - Programs and selecting
  71.         MS-DOS Prompt.
  72.     b.  Insert the driver diskette in the floppy drive.
  73.     c.  At the MS-DOS prompt copy  HPSJCLAS.DLL file from the diskette to the
  74.         Win95 system directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive
  75.         is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  76.             copy a:\hpsjclas.dll c:\windows\system
  77.     d.    At the MS-DOS prompt copy  SCANJET.INF file from the diskette to the 
  78.         Win95 INF directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive 
  79.         is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  80.             copy a:\scanjet.inf c:\windows\inf
  81.  
  82. 2.  Use the "Device Manager" tab in "System" in the Control Panel to verify
  83.     that a SCSI controller has already been installed.  If not use "Add New
  84.     Hardware" in the Control Panel to add the SCSI controller you own.  If 
  85.     the SCSI controller you own is not listed as a choice in "Add New 
  86.     Hardware," you must contact the SCSI controllers manufacturer to obtain
  87.     a Windows 95 driver.

  89. 3.  Turn off the computer.  If the card is not already physically in the
  90.     computer, insert it now.  Connect the scanner to the card's connector.
  91.     Make sure that if the scanner is the last device on the SCSI chain and
  92.     that it is terminated. Make sure the scanner is turned ON before step 4.

  94. 4.  Turn on the computer.  You will be asked for the disk with the drivers
  95.     on it.

  97.         NOTE:

  99.         If you are not asked for the scanner drivers at bootup (after you
  100.         log in), and your scanner was turned on before and during boot, go
  101.         to the System control panel.  (Press Start, Settings, Control
  102.         Panel, then double click on System.  Click on the device manager
  103.         tab.)  Examine your Device configuration, if there is a yellow
  104.         exclamation mark next to your SCSI card you might have to adjust
  105.         your card resources. Please consult Windows 95 documentation,
  106.         your SCSI card documentation or your SCSI card manufacturer.

  108. 5.  Your system will reboot automatically
  109.  
  110. 6.  Your drivers are now installed.  Use "Scanner Test" to test the 
  111.     installation.

  115.     SCSI address test is not supported with Windows 95.

  117. HP C2503 CARD (MICROCHANNEL WITHOUT SWITCHES)
  118. 1.  Identify what Input/Output (I/O) region your interface card is using.
  119.     Consult the documentation that came with your computer to find out
  120.     how to do this.
  121.  
  122. 2.  Copy HPSJCLAS.DLL to the Win 95 System directory and SCANJET.INF to the
  123.     Win 95 INF directory.
  124.     a.  Open MS-DOS prompt by clicking on Start menu - Programs and 
  125.         selecting MS-DOS Prompt.
  126.     b.  Insert the driver diskette in the floppy drive.
  127.     c.  At the MS-DOS prompt copy  HPSJCLAS.DLL file from the diskette to
  128.         the Win95 system directory. The following assumes that your diskette
  129.         drive is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  130.             copy a:\hpsjclas.dll c:\windows\system
  131.     d.    At the MS-DOS prompt copy  SCANJET.INF file from the diskette to the
  132.         Win95 INF directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive 
  133.         is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  134.             copy a:\scanjet.inf c:\windows\inf
  135.  
  136. 3.  Use "Add New Hardware" in the Control Panel to add your scanner and 
  137.     interface card.
  138.     a.    Select "No" when Windows 95 asks if you want it to search for new 
  139.         hardware.
  140.     b.    Select "Other devices" as the hardware type. Push "Next".
  141.     c.     Push the "Have Disk..." button when asked to identify the 
  142.         manufacturer and model for your new hardware. Click "OK" to copy
  143.         manufacturer files from a:\.
  144.     d.     Select "HP ScanJet on C2503" as the model for your new hardware. Push
  145.         "Next".
  146.     e.     Windows 95 will display which resources it plans to use for your new
  147.         hardware.  If those do not match the resources your card is set to,
  148.         do not allow your computer to be shut down.  Instead, go to the
  149.         "Device Manager" tab in "System" in the control panel and modify the
  150.         resources allocated for the "HP ScanJet on C2503" to match the card's
  151.         settings.

  153. 4.  Turn off the computer.  If the card is not already physically in the
  154.     computer, insert it now.  Connect the scanner to the card's connector.
  155.     Turn on the computer.
  156.  
  157. 5.  Your drivers are now installed.  Use "Scanner Test" to test the
  158.     installation.

  160.     NOTE:    
  161.     The SCSI address test is not supported with Windows 95.

  163. HP C1752/C1753 INTERFACE CARD (ISA OR MICROCHANNEL WITH SWITCHES)
  164. 1.  Identify what memory region the switches on your interface card are 
  165.     set to.  Consult the documentation that came with your scanner to find
  166.     out how to do this.
  167.  
  168. 2.  Copy HPSJCLAS.DLL to the Win 95 System directory and SCANJET.INF to the
  169.     Win 95 INF directory.
  170.     a.  Open MS-DOS prompt by clicking on Start menu - Programs and 
  171.         selecting MS-DOS Prompt.
  172.     b.  Insert the driver diskette in to the floppy drive.
  173.     c.  At the MS-DOS prompt copy  HPSJCLAS.DLL file from the diskette to the
  174.         Win95 system directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive
  175.         is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  176.             copy a:\hpsjclas.dll c:\windows\system
  177.     d.    At the MS-DOS prompt copy  SCANJET.INF file from the diskette to the
  178.         Win95 INF directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive is
  179.         a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  180.              copy a:\scanjet.inf c:\windows\inf

  197.         settings.

  200.     computer, insert it now.  Connect the scanner to the card's connector.

  203. 5.  Your drivers are now installed.  Use "Scanner Test" to test the

  209. HP SCANJET PLUS SCANNER AND INTERFACE CARD
  210. 1.  Identify what memory region and interrupt the switches and jumpers on your
  211.     interface card are set to.  Consult the documentation that came with your
  212.     scanner to find out how to do this.

  214. 2.  Copy HPSJCLAS.DLL to the Win 95 System directory and SCANJET.INF to the
  215.     Win 95 INF directory.
  216.  
  217.     a.  Open MS-DOS prompt by clicking on Start menu - Programs and selecting
  218.         MS-DOS Prompt.
  219.     b.  Insert the driver diskette in to the floppy drive.
  220.     c.  At the MS-DOS prompt copy  HPSJCLAS.DLL file from the diskette to the
  221.         Win95 system directory. The following assumes that your diskette drive
  222.         is a: and Win 95 was installed on C:\Windows:
  223.             copy a:\hpsjclas.dll c:\windows\system
  224.     d.    At the MS-DOS prompt copy  SCANJET.INF file from the diskette to the
